Steam users of Final Fantasy XIV will need to link to their Square Enix account in March. To reinforce their ongoing efforts to protect consumers from online fraud and hacking, Square Enix recently announced a new security precaution for the Steam version of Final Fantasy XIV. Starting in early March, players playing FFXIV through Steam will need to link their accounts to their Square Enix account. Players can also prepare enough Final Fantasy XIV Gil in advance to make themselves smoother in the game.
When the user launches Final Fantasy XIV from the Steam library, this process is done by performing a onetime link between the user’s Steam and Square Enix. To link accounts, a user’s Steam account must contain a license that matches the FFXIV license in their Square Enix account, either the Free Trial version or the full game.
They can check the verification of their FFXIV license by logging into the Mog Station website and selecting the “Service Account Status” menu to Buy FFXIV Gil if the “(Steam)” symbol exists for Steam users. They can also verify the license on their Steam account by clicking on their Steam display name, selecting the “Account details” option and clicking “View licenses and product key activations” under “Store Purchase History”.
Once the account linking is complete, players will need to use the new launcher layout introduced in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker. If the player is using the original launcher layout, they will need to switch to the new layout using the launcher’s Config menu. If players want to do better in FFXIV, they can buy FFXIV Gil at IGGM. They can also get New World Coins from the equally popular MMO New World there. Both can give MMO players a better gaming experience!
