With Blizzard President Mike Ybarra instead defending the game's monetization model during a recent interview Diablo 2 Resurrected Items. Amidst backlash against Diablo Immortal, Blizzard has clarified that while the upcoming Diablo IV will have an inside-game microtransaction store, this will only be for optional cosmetics and that there is no option to spend money on game-specific power.

"Well there are a lot of ways, Diablo IV is an ode for our followers," Shely said. "We've been focusing on the theme of returning to the darkness. We also know that when we launch a Diablo game, players have a lot of expectations from Diablo:R.

Diablo, and previous Diablo experiences that they've been enjoying. We know that we have a lot of things that need to be there. In the case of the classes, we wanted to ensure that the experiences that people remember fondly from earlier Diablo games were available and also brought them into the most modern versions of themselves."

Certain Of Diablo IV's classes, while not brand new they haven't seen the light of day for quite a while. The Rogue is back from the original Diablo which is actually a mix the Diablo's Amazon and Assassin classes. In addition, the Druid from Diablo also makes an appearance. The other classes--the Barbarian, Sorceress, and Necromancer have appeared included in Diablo, III, and Diablo Immortal.

Diablo community lead Adam Fletcher recently confirmed the idea of eventually selling expansion packs that are paid for Diablo IV (in combination with cosmetics in the form of an in-game shop) which means it's possible new classes could be added to the game following launch.
