Grinding Gear Games is determined to end the year on a high note, despite the fact that it has been a difficult year for everyone on planet Earth. The studio will conclude the year with a trio of events that will take place in Path of Exile throughout the entire month of December.

The event series will kick off on December 4th at 12pm PST with a week-long Mayhem Event that will introduce classic modifiers from previous Leagues, such as Anarchy, Invasion, Breach, Ambush, Torment, and Harbinger.“Each area in Wraeclast will have one of the following scenarios: 20 Rogue Exiles, 20 Strongboxes, 20 Invasion Bosses, 20 Breaches, 20 Tormented Spirits, or 20 Harbingers, with mods changing every hour,” according to the development team.

The week-long Endless Delve event begins a week later, on December 11th at 12pm PST. The event will take place entirely within the Azurite Mine and will present a more difficult challenge than normal Delve events by cheap poe currency requiring players to begin their descent into the mine with only a small amount of starter equipment.

Grinding Gear Games has decided to delay the launch of the Path of Exile December league until January in order to accommodate the new release date for Cyberpunk 2077, which was announced last week.

“CD Projekt Red announced yesterday that Cyberpunk 2077 will now be released on December 10,” said Producer Chris Wilson on the game's official forums. In order to avoid forcing players into a difficult decision between these two games, we have decided to step back and push the release of Path of Exile 3.13 back until January. We are still on track to complete 3.13 by the beginning or middle of December. The scope of this expansion will remain unchanged. We will begin work on the 3.14 expansion during the month-long hiatus before the game’s release.”

In lieu of the postponed League, the developers will host at least one multi-week event to keep players occupied during the holidays. Of course, this unexpected setback has thrown yet another wrench into Grinding Gear's development cycle, which has already been slowed significantly as a result of the pandemic.“While we hope that this delay Path of Exile 2 will not have an impact on our development schedule, it is likely that our release schedule will shift a little bit during 2021,” Chris explained.“We will post more information about this as soon as we have more information about these dates and when we will be announcing 3.13.”

“Players will have access to passive points normally gained from quests and will incur Kitava’s resistance penalties at various level thresholds,” the developers explain.“Players can ascend their characters using the Altar of Ascendancy located within the Mine Encampment, and Lilly Roth and Niko will be on hand to provide skill gems. Players will be unable to access their Hideouts or any towns, which means they will be fighting the darkness alone.“Best of luck with that.”

The final event in the series is the three-week Heist Flashback event, which will run from December 18th at 12pm PST until the launch of the next expansion in January. The event will be similar to the Mayhem Event in that it will have several popular modifiers from previous Leagues active in each zone.“Each game area will include several popular mods from previous leagues, with a random Path of Exile M selection of three of the following mods present, which will change each hour, on the hour.”

Prizes for the event include Demigod's Authority, Twilight Myster Boxes, and random draw microtransactions for players who reach certain levels. More information can be found on the Path of Exile official forums.
